A bank in Peoria sustained damage after a vehicle ran into the building Monday morning, according to police.

Impairment was not a factor, according to police.

The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. Feb. 13.

According to a Peoria Police Department spokesperson, an elderly woman attempted to park but instead of pressing the brake pedal he stepped on the gas pedal. The vehicle struck the south wall of TCF Bank, 7570 Cactus Road.

According to a TCF Bank spokesperson, the branch remained opened after the incident. The damage was confined to a dent in the wall and the window frame.

The Peoria Fire-Medical Department inspected the damage and found the building structurally sound, the bank spokesperson stated.

There is no current damage estimate or timeline for repair.

A Daily News-Sun article from Feb. 13 said the driver was a man. Police confirmed the driver was a woman.
