Surprise collects care package items for Luke airmen

Help send care packages to deployed Luke Air Force Base airmen by donating food and hygiene items through April 13 at Surprise City Hall.

The city is partnering with nonprofit organization Operation Thunderbox to send donated goods overseas.


The public can join Surprise employees in supporting our troops by donating some of the “Wish List” items below. Collection boxes are located in both the lobby and City Clerk’s Office at Surprise City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.


• Hygiene Items — (full & travel size) baby wipes, hand sanitizer, sun screen, lip balm, shaving cream, razors, soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, female hygiene products, q-tips and toothbrush/ toothpaste 


• Snack Foods — (at least 90 day shelf life remaining) beef jerky, chips (canister packaged i.e. pringles), individual drink mix (i.e. single serving crystal light or koolaid), energy drinks, candy bars and granola/power bars
