The project, a partnership between Surprise, FCD, the city of Peoria and the Maricopa County Department of Transportation, is designed to intercept flood water from the northeast and carry it south to the Agua Fria River, decreasing flood hazards to communities in the project area.

Improvements will include installing a concrete channel, drainage structures, storm drain pipe, erosion protection and landscape.

Construction work hours will be 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridayshowever hours will vary with seasonal changes.

During construction, drivers in the area can expect traffic lane restrictions however access will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles. Be alert to traffic control changes and allow extra time to travel through the construction work area as there may be traffic delays.

The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2018.
