A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a traffic accident Friday night, according to police.

On April 7 at about 7:30 p.m. a female pedestrian was crossing the street near 52nd Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale when a vehicle struck her, Glendale Police Department Officer Tiffany Smith stated in an email.

Sgt. Scott Waite stated in an email Monday, April 10 that the woman remains at the hospital in critical condition.

Police have determined the pedestrian was struck in the roadway by a white vehicle, which then fled the scene, according to a release Monday. The vehicle was traveling westbound during the collision. The vehicle is described as a 2000-2005 Subaru 4-door sedan and should have sustained front-end damage and a broken windshield. The vehicle is believed to have a spoiler on the back that is raised about 3 inches.

Police believe the driver was a white or light-skinned Hispanic female with dark hair between 20 and 30 years old.

Police are considering this incident a hit and run.
