Sharon K. Hodnick

Posted

Sharon passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was a beloved secondary English teacher for 35 years. She especially enjoyed her 7th grade classes in Zumbrota-Mazeppa Minnesota. On January 22, 1971 she married her husband George Hodnik.
After she retired, Sharon moved to Sun City West, Arizona, a retirement community, in 2005 and became active in the community.
She was the secretary for the Calligraphy club for 10 years. For 13 years she ran the Green Team golf group with her husband George. Sharon used her teaching skills to coordinate activities and schedules for people taking up the game for the first time or returning to it in retirement. Starting with about 40 people, the group grew often having over 100 participants on many Saturdays and over 500 people on the membership list. As beginner golfer herself, she often said she enjoyed playing bad golf.
Sharon was an avid reader. She enjoyed making greeting cards, practicing calligraphy, traveling, and entertaining friends and family. Her wit, sense of humor, charm, and caring demeanor won over and created lasting friendships.
She is survived by her husband George, sisters Cherryl and Barb (Wilbur), nephew Steven (Amanda) and niece Cathy, grandnieces Kjersten and Josie and grand-nephew John Miles.
