Man dies after drowning in Glendale

A man died Monday afternoon after he drowned in a pool in Glendale, according to police.


The Glendale Fire Department responded to the incident at about 11:50 a.m. March 6 in the area of 63rd Avenue and Brown Street, near Peoria Avenue.


According to Glendale fire, a 73-year-old man was found floating face down in a pool.


Glendale Police Department officers were at the scene during life-saving efforts, a spokesman stated in an email.


There were people at home during the incident. Family members told police the man frequently sat out back or walked around the backyard.


Officials performed CPR before transporting him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Sgt. Scott Waite stated in an email.


It is unknown how he ended up in the pool.
