A man was shot inside his car while attempting to flee an encounter with two suspects, according to a Glendale police report.

The incident occurred Friday, March 24 at about 9 p.m. inside the parking lot of Tanger Outlet Westgate near 95th and Glendale avenues.

Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the back in the northeast parking lot of the mall.

Police discovered the man had been in his vehicle with a family member when two men approached on foot and asked to use the man’s phone.

When the victim refused, an argument ensued and one of the suspect’s displayed a handgun, the report states.

The victim tried to drive away, but the suspect fired at least one shot at the vehicle and struck the victim.

The man drove to another part of the parking lot where the family member called 911.

The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The male victim was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
