Glendale police: Man shoots at driver who gave him a ride

A man shot at a driver who gave him a ride in Glendale Monday night, according to police.

The incident occurred at about 11:15 p.m. near the 6500 block of W. Bethany Home Road.

According to a report, a male driver was travelling near 67th and Maryland avenues when he picked up a man at a bus stop to give him a ride.

The two did not know each other, according to police. The driver took the man to 6500 W. Bethany Home Road where the passenger produced a handgun and attempted to take the victim’s property.

The suspect fired one shot at the driver inside the vehicle. The suspect then fled through the parking lot and fired at least one more shot at the victim, the report stated. The victim was not injured.

It is not known why the driver gave the suspect a ride.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, early 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 170 pounds with black hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jean shorts. He displayed a 9 mm handgun, according to police.
