Police identified a man killed after a vehicle struck him while crossing a Glendale street Monday morning.

The Glendale Police Department said Lawrence Massaro, 58, of Glendale was the pedestrian killed on Feb. 20.

Officers responded to the incident at about 6:35 a.m. in the 5400 block of West Camelback Road.

The Glendale Fire Department treated Massaro at the scene but he later died from the injuries sustained during the crash.

Glendale Police Vehicular Crimes Detectives determined a silver vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old female Glendale resident, was traveling eastbound on Camelback Road. The vehicle struck Massaro as he was crossing the road south. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said it does not appear impairment was a factor in the collision.

The Vehicular Crimes Detectives will continue to investigate and determine if other factors contributed to the crash.

"We encourage all drivers to be extra vigilant when driving," a release stated. "We also encourage all pedestrians to use the designated crosswalks and be mindful of traffic."
