Three people are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a ATV rollover at a racetrack in Peoria early Saturday morning.

According to a Peoria Fire-Medical Department spokesperson, officials responded at 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 18 to an ATV rollover at Canyon Speedway Park, 9777 W. Carefree Highway in north Peoria.

Peoria Police Department Officer Brandon Sheffert said one ATV carrying four people was involved. The racetrack was closed at the time of the incident.

Sheffert said the occupants drove around the track and rolled over when the ATV went into a yaw. The two front seat passengers were ejected.

Fire paramedics treated the people at the scene. Three were flown to Valley hospitals with life-threatening injuries. They are a 38-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman. Another 21-year-old woman was transported via ground with serious injuries.

Officer Sheffert said all four are alive as of 6:40 a.m. Feb. 19. An update on the occupants should come later Monday, Feb. 20 after an officer checks the hospital.

Alcohol was a factor in the incident, Officer Sheffert said.
