Westernaires bring 'Love' to Sun City West

“Love is in the Air,” the spring concert of the Westernaires Chorus, will be presented on Thursday and Sunday, April 6 and 9, at 2 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, April 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. in the Stardust Theatre, 14401 R.H. Johnson Blvd. in Sun City West.

Reserved tickets are $10, which may be purchased at the Sun City West Box Office, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays or online at suncitywest.com.

Sylvia Collins, director, has chosen beautiful love songs such as, “You’re Just in Love,” “Unchained Melody,” “As Time Goes By” and a special arrangement from the 50s and 60s called Forever Doo-Wop. Last-minute ticket buyers can check at the Stardust Theatre 30 minutes before each performance for available tickets.


Ms. Collins' objective in leading the chorus is to continue the legacy of comradery, fun and dedication in the Choral program in Sun City West.

​She has been a high school and junior high choir director and music teacher in the Green Bay and Milwaukee, WI areas from 1965-1996.  During the same period of time, she was an adult church choir director in various churches in the same areas. She was also a private voice, piano and early education music instructor at Oshkosh Vocational College, WI. She was an adjudicator of Wisconsin Schools Music Association's yearly solo and ensemble contest. Sylvia received her bachelor of music education from the University of Wisconsin/Madison, WI.
