Sun City Women’s Chorus performs spring show

Posted
The Sun City Women’s Chorus will present its spring concert, “The Sounds of Music,” 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2 in Sundial Recreation Center auditorium, 14801 N. 103rd Ave.

Selections will include “The Hills Are Alive,” “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Bridge Over Troubled Waters,” “I Sing A Song For America” and many more old favorites.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from chorus members, or one hour before the show at the Sundial box office.

The Sun City Women’s Chorus has been performing in Sun City for 55 years. It was the first chartered club whose members come from a variety of backgrounds.

The chorus gives two concerts per year — one in spring and one in December. The group has 75 members and is directed by West Valley vocalist Jane Higgs.

Anyone interested in joining the chorus is invited to the rehearsals, which are 8:45-11 a.m. every Thursday in the Music Room of the Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Ave., Sun City.

Sun City’s second oldest, and yet newest, recreation center, Fairway Center underwent a two-phase renovation project that was completed in 2011. Fairway is now home to a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor walking track and a combination lap and walking pool, in addition to numerous clubs.
