New homebuilders in The Meadows development in north Peoria will need new signs to promote new home purchases.

Fallen tree branches and uprooted trees became a common scene in the Northwest Valley this weekend after two nights of winds and microbursts tore through Peoria and Sun City, with the general area of 91st to 111th avenues between Union Hills Drive and Deer Valley Road, hit the hardest
Monday, residents continue to clean up after back to back storms pelleted the Northwest Valley communities on July 15 and 16.
Peoria Public Works-Utilities Director Stuart Kent stated Peoria public works crews worked Saturday night and Sunday clearing roads of debris and tree limbs.
The Peoria Police Department directed traffic in areas where the roads were completed blocked by large trees.
“We will continue our clean up efforts of the right of way and streets while continuing to maintain existing service levels for such services as Uncontained Trash Collection which were already scheduled to occur,” Kent stated in an email.
APS power poles snapped in half along Deer Valley Road near 97th Avenue. APS crews continued working on the damage Monday.

Many Sun Citians lost power in the general area of 107th Avenue and Thunderbird Road from Saturday to Sunday morning, unrelated to the Deer Valley Road power pole damage.
Paradise RV Resort, just north of Union Hills Drive in Sun City, lost several roofs and sheet metal still lined the main thoroughfare on July 17.
Street signs were uprooted at Palmeras Drive in Sun City.
Sun City Home Owners Association reminded residents to be aware of scammers asking for cash up front to clean up one’s property. SCHOA Executive Director Carole Studdard suggests to receive more than one estimate and “don’t allow yourself to be pressured.”
The Meadows neighborhood north of Deer Valley Road and east of Lake Pleasant Parkway in Peoria saw damage to new home builds throughout the community.
The June 15 storm uprooted trees throughout north Peoria and Sun City, including this section of The Meadows and south on Union Hills Drive frontage of Westbrook Village.
