A family of four died Wednesday morning after a house fire in Glendale, according to officials.
The fire started at about 1:20 a.m., when the Glendale Fire Department responded to a call in the area of 5200 West Mercer, near 51st and Peoria avenues.
According to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Scott Waite, fire officials arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. After they put out the fire, officials located four people dead inside the home.
The fire appears to have started towards the rear of the home, Sgt. Waite stated.
Two of them were found at the front of the home and two at the back, according to a release. The woman is believed to be homeowner, 41-year-old Heather Johnson. Police stated the confirmed identity will not be available until after the medical examiner report has been completed.
Officials do not suspect any foul play occurred leading up to the fire but continue to investigate.
According to Sgt. Waite, it does not appear anyone else lived at the residence or is missing.
A family member set up a YouCaring page for funeral expenses. According to the page, Heather Johnson was a chef and baker for
Variations Bakery in Phoenix, which she took over in 2008.
The girl, Tabitha, was a freshman at Ironwood High School and created art pieces to share with family. The school’s principal sent out a letter informing students and their families of the of the news.
The twins, Jason and Sean, were in the 7th grade and accompanied their mother at the bakery.
