BASIS Schools consider campus in Surprise

BASIS Schools is considering planting a campus in Surprise and will lead an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in Sierra Montana Recreation Center, 14861 N Spring Lane.

The private Scottsdale-based BASIS Educational Group LLC has 18 charter schools in Arizona and is considering several models if it decides to expand to Surprise, including K-4, 5-12 and K-12.

Those who are new to BASIS curriculum can learn about the school’s offerings, including instruction in Mandarin Chinese and Engineering. Current families should sign up for an interest list.

BASIS Peoria placed fifth in the nation on the 2017 U.S. News Best Public High Schools rankings. BASIS charter high schools dominated the rankings with BASIS Scottsdale placing first, BASIS Tucson North second, BASIS Oro Valley third and BASIS Chandler seventh.

To produce the 2017 Best High Schools rankings, U.S. News & World Report teamed with North Carolina-based RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm.
