Artist of the month has work on display

Posted
Bill Cody is Palo Verde Artists’ April artist of the month.

Since the early 1980s, Bruce Cody has painted large urban and small town architectural motifs.

In all of his paintings, the rich light and shadows of the Western landscape are the primary motive for selecting his subjects. At the heart of his work exists a positive observation of the American scene that records and mirrors shared experiences of daily life and journeys across the United States.

Mr. Cody graduated from the University of Wyoming and earned a master of fine arts degree at Washington State University. After 17 years as a university art teacher, he resigned his tenured professorship at Colorado State University to devote his life to painting in 1983.

After moving to Sun City in 2016 with his wife, Charlene, Mr. Cody became an instructor with Palo Verde Artists and teaches drawing. He has presented 25 one-man exhibits since 1984. His paintings are included in 30 public museum collections, more than 50 corporate collections and in nearly 500 private collections in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

Mr. Cody’s work is on exhibit in the upper level of the Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103 Ave.
